Meet the Maker
Based in New Plymouth, New Zealand, Morgan Paige Taitoko is an artist working across photography, painting, and installation whose work explores the distortions of reality.
Her practice begins with photographing colour and objects through human-made substrates, particularly obscured retro glass. This playful interaction with light, refraction, and surface produces uniquely distorted images that act as references for her acrylic paintings and fabric hanging works. Through abstraction, layered colour, and softened form, her work sits between the recognisable and the unfamiliar.
The resulting pieces reflect a quiet dialogue between nature and the constructed. Organic forms are filtered through industrial materials, creating work that subtly references New Zealand’s architectural heritage while challenging fixed ways of seeing.
Across mediums, Morgan invites viewers to experience the world through a beautifully altered lens One that embraces imperfection, blur, and the space in between.
